Tales of Forge and Fortune is a whimsical cozy fantasy tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) that puts players in the role of a budding blacksmith, who sets out to forge a legacy, on their own or with friends!
You’ll explore lands, both near and far, to gather the resources required to craft countless wonders that you can keep for yourself or sell in your shop to the masses. Over time, your character will grow in skill and experience, along with your shop and even the town around you!
Progress at your own pace and take the time to enjoy yourself in whatever way you wish. Engage with the NPCs of the town and learn more about your neighbors. Sometimes they may even ask for assistance, rewarding players with new adventures, rare materials and items, or coin. Watch as the small town you started out in evolves into a grand city or bustling trade hub, due to your continued efforts to help out your community.
When not exploring or gathering resources, players will craft components and items that can be sold within their shop, at times engaging in the age old tradition of bargaining with customers. Some may even be a little more demanding or downright rude, leading to a Social Boss Battle. You may even run into “Very Important Adventurers” or VIAs that will show up before the shop closes, commissioning the players to create a very special item within a set amount of days. These tasks will transport players to strange new worlds, where they can collect the incredible materials required to fulfill their patron’s request.
Special events, such as Battle of the Bards and the Heart of the Forge Competition, will provide players with entertaining new ways to put their skills and experience to good use. Holidays and NPC-related events also give players a better opportunity to connect with the town and other players.
Although not the main focus of this game, combat is an optional aspect that players can engage in, with simple and fast-paced rules, for those wanting a little more excitement in their story, but fear not! Tales of Forge and Fortune has no risk of losing your progress or character. Defeated opponents retreat and if the player(s) fall in combat, they pass out and wake up in town, saved by a passing group of adventurers. Just remember, you’re blacksmiths first and foremost, so please try to leave such conflicts to the professionals!
